No really, it's possible to be completely safe from everything bad ever. Really.

There is hope.

This was in the Los Angeles Times today:

RU-486, prescribed under the brand name Mifeprex, was approved by the FDA in 2000 over the strong objections of many abortion opponents. In recent weeks, opponents of the RU-486 regimen have renewed their call for the passage of Holly's Law, which would take the drug off the market in the U.S., arguing that there is no way it can be administered without risk.

Um, excuse me?

I am truly sorry for the women who died and for the families who lost them. But not only is there no undeniable link between their deaths and RU-486, but is there a drug in the US or anywhere else that can be administered without risk? Are people genuinely asking this question? It's a drug, people. They have side effects that can sometimes include death. It happens. Everyone's body is different and reacts to things differently. There is always a risk and most people who take drugs accept this. Not to mention the fact that the FDA is always recalling drugs that kill many more people in many different ways. But this unfortunate incident will be abused by the religious right to once again defend the stripping away of human rights. Fuckers.
